Tigers are #3 seed to state tournament in Sundome

At Selkirk November 2, the Tiger volleyball team played two district playoff games opposite the Northport Mustangs and the Selkirk Rangers.

Odessa defeated Northport, 3-0 to take the match handily.

Game 1: 25-11 Odessa

Game 2: 25-14 Odessa

Game 3: 25-20 Odessa

Maleah Davison led the team with four aces, four blocks and seven kills, while Brenna Carstensen led in assists with 10 and digs with seven.

Against Selkirk, a team with only one loss all season, the going was tough. The Tigers won only one out of four matches.

Game 1: 23-25 Selkirk

Game 2: 25-16 Odessa

Game 3: 11-25 Selkirk

Game 4: 19-25 Selkirk

Ma. Davison, Amber Smith and Caitlyn Schuh had two aces apiece, with Schuh also leading the team with 14 digs. Carstensen led with 20 assists and 16 digs, while Maddy Wagner led with 14 digs and eight kills. McKennah Davison had five blocks.

On November 4, the final district playoff games were played at Northwest Christian High School in Colbert (Spokane). The Tigers first faced Valley Christian, winning 3-1 to eliminate the Panthers. After dropping the first game, Odessa came on strong and took the next three straight.

Game 1: 14-25 VC

Game 2: 25-20 Odessa

Game 3: 25-18 Odessa

Game 4: 25-22 Odessa

Wagner had 14 and Ma. Davison 13 kills to pace the Tiger offense. Wagner also led in digs with 20 and added two blocks. Carstensen led in assists with 28. Schuh had six service aces.

Later that day, Odessa faced Northport in a hard-fought match that sent the loser home and the winner to state as the District 7 #3 seed. Odessa showed real grit and came out on top, 3-2.

Game 4: 21-25 Northport

Game 5: 15-8 Odessa

Stat leaders for the Tigers were Carstensen with 34 assists, Wagner 18 kills, Mc. Davison two blocks, Amber Smith 19 digs and Schuh six service aces.

The Tigers move on as the #3 seed, with ACH #1 and Selkirk #2 also headed to the Yakima Sundome. The Tigers play their first state tournament match November 9 at 8 a.m. against Three Rivers Christian. Win or lose, they play their next match in this double-elimination tournament at 3:15 p.m. the same day.
