Casey Schlomer with her parents and step-parents, Gina and Joe Schlomer and Amy and Kevin Schaefer, celebrate with a going-away party at Any Occasion Banquet Hall prior to Casey's departure for the U.S. Air Force.

Casey Schlomer is the daughter of Joe (and Gina) Schlomer and Amy (and Kevin) Schaefer. She is a 2016 graduate of Odessa High School and has now decided to join the U.S. Air Force. This past Sunday, her friends, family and former classmates held a going-away party for her at Any Occasion Banquet Hall.

During the festivities, Casey's father Joe Schlomer read a tribute to his daughter that The Record would like to share with our readers.

"In 1997, Amy and I cut this diamond and throughout the years – years that went by way too quickly if you ask me – this beautiful diamond grew and matured into what she is today. Through it all, we have had to do very little polishing to make this diamond shine. She is the adult she is today with the help of family, friends and step parents. Now we get to watch this diamond shine in this new chapter of her life as she joins the U.S. Air Force.

Casey, we could not be prouder of you. This is your time to shine for your family, friends, this wonderful town that has known you your whole life and especially this great nation you are going to serve. We all love you, and we are going to miss you. We only ask that you continue to shine, Casey. Always shine."

And to that we can only add that we wish Casey much success in her chosen career. We have watched her grow up and face the challenges that life has sent her way. We just know she faces a bright future.
