Museum's windmill gets much-needed repairs

The Odessa Historical Museum faced a dilemma when the working windmill at the site stopped working. In this digital age, where can you find a windmill repair person? Odessa Historical Society member Patrick Gies went on the hunt and ultimately found Hugh Grimm of Airway Heights, a collector of old windmills and repairman when needed. Grimm told Society members he had loved climbing since he was a boy. Even now, he scampers up and down ladders with the sure-footedness of a mountain goat. And how old is this human mountain goat? Fixing the old windmill from the platform atop its tower, no fear of heights here, he is an unbelievable 88 years old!

He has had some heart issues and wears a pacemaker that has helped him stay on an even keel but is otherwise as spry as can be.

At some point in this past Tuesday's repair job, Grimm needed an extra pair of hands to help him hold things in place. Tom Schuh lives close by and was prevailed upon to join Grimm on the platform to lend a hand.
