Odessa police officer Les Jimerson and the new K9 Sasha.

As Brent Dell and Les Jimerson have settled into their roles as members of the Odessa peace-keeping force over the past few months, some interesting changes have been announced for the town. Research by Dell, for example, has confirmed that per the Revised Code of Washington (RCW), towns below a certain population limit shall have a Town Marshal as their top law-enforcement official. Dell told the town council at Monday's regular meeting that he is happy to go that route and make the necessary changes in terminology.

The other big news for the marshal's office is the addition of a third officer to the local force. K-9 officer Sasha is a Belgian Malinois (or Belgian Shepherd) currently residing at the Odessa home of officer Les Jimerson and undergoing training for her duties here. She will be based in Odessa, but Dell said she will also be made available to other Lincoln County law enforcement personnel who request her services.
