Odessa graduation set for July 18

Class opts to wait for a traditional ceremony

ODESSA — The high school Class of 2020 voted last week during a digital meeting to delay graduation until July 18 in hopes of having a traditional commencement ceremony.

The majority vote came with the support of Superintendent Dan Read, Principal Jamie Nelson and senior class adviser Megan Walter.

Tentative graduation plans include a parade of graduates through town at 5;30 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, with social-distancing practices to be followed (i.e., spectators to remain in parked cars along First Avenue). The parade will begin at Seventh Street and extend to the Odessa Golf Course.
