All Lincoln County levies currently passing

DAVENPORT--All five levies on the Lincoln County ballot for the Feb. 9 special election, including four school and one hospital levies, were passing as of press time, according to the Lincoln County Auditor’s website.

Proposition No. 1 in the Sprague School District had received 145 "yes" votes to just 60 "no" votes for a 70.73% to 29.27% margin. The replacement levy would be an estimated $1.68 per $1,000 of assessed property value for two years. Total collection in 2022 would be $195,000, and the same number in 2023. The levy hadn’t received any votes outside Lincoln County as of press time.

The Reardan-Edwall School District’s Proposition No. 1 had received 346 "yes" votes and just 167 "no" votes as of press time in Lincoln County for a 67.45% to 32.55% margin. However, “no” votes outweighed “yes” votes in Spokane County 454-385. Overall preliminary totals still showed the levy passing 731-621 due to the strong Lincoln County “yes” push.

The three-year replacement levy would be an estimated $2.00 per $1,000 assessed property value, with collections of $1,300,112 in 2022, $1,358,617 in 2023 and $1,419,755 in 2024.

“My initial reaction to (preliminary results) is just a sense of gratitude for the voters in our district and for their support…and a real understanding that the district exists to serve the community,” Reardan-Edwall superintendent Eric Sobotta said. “About our Spokane County results specifically…I’ll be spending some time over these next couple years seeking to understand the needs of that part of our school district (and) try to understand those taxpayers and community and what their needs are.”

Proposition No. 1 in the Odessa School District was passing 71.83% to 28.17%, with "yes" votes outpacing "no" votes 278-109 in Lincoln County. Small amounts of voters in Grant and Adams counties bring the numbers to 300-128.

The levy amount of $550,000 would be charged at an estimated $2.04 per $1,000 assessed property value.

Similarly, Proposition No. 2 in the district was also convincingly passing 283-104 in Lincoln County and 305-124 overall, a 71.1% to 28.9% margin. That replacement excess levy would total $100,000 and require approximately $0.37 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.

Finally, Proposition No. 1 for Lincoln County Hospital District in Odessa had 356 "yes" votes and just 96 "no" votes as of press time. The estimated levy rate of $2.38 per $1,000 assessed property value would collect $661,000 in 2022.

The election results, which preliminarily indicate "yes" votes on all five levies, will be certified Feb. 19.
