Davenport Union Buys Centennial at Mondovi
Transactions Complete Property Turnover In This Area by Centennial Milling Co.
Purchase of the Centennial Flour Mill's elevator and warehouse property at Mondovi was made this week by the Davenport Union Warehouse. Transactions were closed Monday, reports Harry Heid, Union manager.
Sale includes the elevator and anex which have a storage capacity of 110,000 bushels and which boost the Davenport union's total storage to 1,260,000 bushels.
Monday's deal completes the sale of property in this region by Centennial Mills. Two weeks ago, the Grange Milling company of Davenport brought out Centennial interests at Davenport and Omans.
Davenport Union has been in business at Mondovi since about 1909. They are now the sole grain firm operating there, and have a total storage of 300,00 bushels. The Union has storage space in Davenport for 960,000 bushels.

Plane Wreck – No Injuries
State Trooper Robert Watkins inspects the interior of a Chrokee 140 aircraft which crashed shortly after taking off from a gravel Rd Wednesday night.
The plane, piloted by J.A. Simes, 41, of Kennewick, apparently hit a telephone pole after it reportedly lost power during takeoff. It sheered off the pole, hit the ground crossed the highway and cart wheeled to its position. Sime and his two passengers, Einar Frimodt, 35, and Darrel Hoglanh, 35, both of Kennewick, received no injuries other than bruises in the crash.

Pinewood Derby Held
The annual Scouts pinewood derby was held in the Harrington Fire station. Cub Scouts raced in a class and the open class raced down the fast track constucted by Scott McGowen, and Tim Priest.
Nathan Meilke, second grade, walked away with first place this year and the fastest car. Adam Frank, third grade, took a very close second place trophy home, and Nathaniel Putney won third place plus best of show for his car design.
Scout Master Scott McGowen would like to thank Craigh Moeller, Duane Erickson, Jim Wilcox, Norm Iverson and Rhonda McGowen for all their help.

Hawk Creek Yields glasses lost 12 years
W. T Cormana of Harrrington, while fishing on Hawk Creek April 5, found a pair of glasses lost 12 years before by Henery Johnson while he fished along the creek.
