The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch from Friday afternoon June 25-Tuesday evening June 29 due to dangerously hot conditions that may top as high as 112 degrees in certain areas in Eastern Washington.
Friday, high temperatures are expected to near 100 degrees, while Saturday is expected to top between 97-107 degrees. Sunday-Tuesday will up the ante, topping between 100-112 degrees. Mild overnight lows are expected in the mid-60s to mid-70s.
Extreme heat increases the potential for heat-related illnesses, especially for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
The NWS recommends monitoring latest forecasts and warnings for heat updates, drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room out of the sun and checking up on relatives and neighbors.
Young children and pets shouldn’t be left unattended in vehicles ever, but this is especially true during hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in minutes
