10 locals receive Innovia scholarships

10 students from the Davenport, Reardan, Harrington and Sprague area have earned Innovia scholarships for higher education.

Most local scholarships were awarded by the Mondovi Grange/Wilson Farm donation fund.

Two girls from Sprague were lucky enough to receive multiple scholarships.

Kelsey Billigmeier received a $1,000 award from Mark and Kay Burkett, a $2,000 award from William and Flossie Sanborn and $1,900 from the Mondovi Grange/Wilson Farm donation fund. She plans to attend Washington State University.

Malea Canaday also received $2,000 from the Sanborns and got $1,675 from Mondovi Grange/Wilson Farm in advance of attending WSU.

Jessie Williams of Reardan, who is attending Wenatchee Valley College, received $2,500 from the Mondovi Grange/Wilson Farm. The same award was given to John Tanke of Harrington, who is attending WSU.

Kylee Longie of Sprague received $1,900 from the Mondovi Grange/Wilson Farm and plans to attend Whitworth University, while Lisbeth Ruelas and Gunnar Knutson of Davenport and Madison Holdway of Reardan received $1,675. Ruelas and Knuston are attending Eastern Washington University, while Holdway is attending WSU.

Finally, Eleanor Telford of Davenport received $1,375 as she heads to Linfield University.

Hutsell joins Innovia board

The Innovia Foundation also recently announced a local tie in its new board member, Lincoln County Commissioner Scott Hutsell. Hutsell said he’ll find out more about his role Sept. 15. Other new board members include Jeff Phillipps of Spokane and Ryan Nipp of Coeur d’Alene.

Densley remains in hospital

Nicholas Densley of Spokane, who suffered serious injuries in a boat vs. Jet Ski accident on Lake Roosevelt Aug. 14, remains alive and in a Spokane hospital on a ventilator, according to Lincoln County Sheriff Wade Magers.
