Mary Ann (Good) Remmers

Feb. 13, 1932 – Oct. 11, 2021

Mary Ann Good Remmers, 89, was welcomed into Jesus' arms at Hospice House of Spokane North on Oct. 11, 2021. She was born on Feb. 13, 1932, in Sundance, Wyo. to Lawrence C. Good and Josie E Williamson Good.

As a young girl her family moved around from Wyo., Mont., Ore. and finally settling in the Reardan & Spokane, Wash. area.

Mary Ann loved sewing. It seemed she always had a project going. Her children fondly remember her sewing gifts for them when there wasn’t enough money to go around. She made stuffed elephants with colorful saddles for her kids, adorable sock dolls and doll clothes. Paper dolls were also a favorite of hers. She also made personalized quilts and lap blankets for the family. She was an avid baker and made delicious breads and cakes. She always had coffee or tea on to go with her fresh-baked treats.

Mary Ann loved traveling, especially when she could travel by train. She had scrapbooks full of brochures and pictures from trips she and LeRoy took. One of her favorites was a trip they took to Ireland.

Over the years, Mary Ann was a hardworking homemaker while her children were young. She also worked as a postal clerk at the Reardan Post Office for several years. She was an adored Certified Nurse’s Aide at Lincoln Hospital for many years and finished her working years as a home health aide.

Mary Ann had a wonderful smile and always looked at life with optimism. She loved having oatmeal for breakfast. She loved ice cream and especially loved it whenever any of her children would bring her a milkshake or better yet take her out for a milkshake and a drive.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Remmers, who she greatly missed. When he passed in 2017 they had been married almost 36 years. She was also preceded in death by her sister Helen Good Weipert and her eldest son, Richard McLain and her first husband, Jack McLain.

Mary Ann is survived by her dear sister Carol B (Good) Stephenson of Alliance, Neb. She leaves behind her children: Delbert McLain, Cheney, Wash .; Evelyn Skelton & Roger Wahlquist, Benton City, Wash .; Lois (William) Payne, Clayton, Wash .; Josie (Robert) Breshears, Cheney, Wash .; and Carl (Cindy) Remmers, Reardan, Wash.

MaryAnn leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren along with several nephews & nieces.

A service will be held on Sat., Nov. 6, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 218 E. Crawford, Deer Park, Wash. She will be interred at a later date next to Leroy at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.

Mary Ann often said, “It’s a great life if you don’t weaken!”

Donations can be made in memory of Mary Ann to Hospice House of Spokane North, 102 W Rhoades, Spokane, WA 99208 or to Zion Lutheran Church, PO Box 1392, Deer Park, WA 99006.
