Davenport finishes 10th at state cross country

Davenport's Jaeger Jacobsen highest team placer with 18th-place finish

PASCO-The Davenport boys cross country team had enjoyed success all year behind a youthful core of runners led by sophomore Jaeger Jacobsen, and that success culminated in a top-10 finish at the state meet at Sun Willows Golf Course Saturday, Nov. 6.

The Gorillas finished in 10th place in the 1B/2B 5,000-meter boys race. The top Davenport runners were Jacobsen, who finished 18th with a time of 17:43.7, and junior Trevor Lenocker, who finished 57th with a time of 18:44.9.

Davenport's five other finishers included junior Zack Bruce, who was 77th with a time of 19:05.2, junior Jesse Raugust in 90th with a time of 19:29.0, junior Brenick Soliday in 98th with a time of 19:43.3, senior Jake Coffman in 101st with a time of 19:44.4 and junior Grayson Danekas in 107th with a time of 20:17.4.

112 individual runners competed at the state B level, and senior Daniel Quintana of Ilwaco took home top prize with a run of 16:30.9. Will Halpin of Liberty Bell, Asher Ingram of Northwest Christian (Lacey) and Ciaran St. Hilaire of Tri-Cities Prep rounded out the top five.

The top-10 team finishers ahead of Davenport included three District 7 teams. The top 10 teams were Liberty Bell, Pope John Paul 2, Chewelah, St. George's, Asotin, Mt. Vernon Christian, Goldendale, Brewster and Cedar Tree Classical Christian.

Davenport finished ahead of Morton-White Pass with 208 points to MWP's 233. Liberty Bell, the state team victors, had 50 points.
