Partnership for mental health town hall

REARDAN--A “Virtual Town Hall” has been arranged for Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. to elevate student voice on how the pandemic is affecting them and what the Department of Health can do to help.

The Reardan-Edwall and Davenport School Districts have been working with Dr. Kira Mauseth, a co-lead of the Behavioral Health Strike Team for the Washington State Department of Health to facilitate the event.

“We are in the middle of a mental health crisis. As we try to respond as educators and state officials, it is paramount that we listen to our young adults,” Reardan superintendent Eric Sobotta said. “The goal of this hour with Dr. Mauseth is to try to better understand how the pandemic is affecting our students and also to listen to the different ideas they may have for how we can best support them. Our students need hope and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that happens sooner than later.”

To date, over 20 school districts plan to join the town hall along with two legislators, a local health director, and other state officials. This event is not open to the public and will not be recorded.
