Robert (Bob) Everett Brooks

Sept. 13, 1947 - July 21, 2021

Robert (Bob) Everett Brooks, 73, of Spokane, Wash. passed away July 21, 2021 after a short hospital stay. Bob was born in Seattle on Sept. 13, 1947 and moved to Davenport when he was 5 years old.

As a teen, Bob delivered prescriptions around Davenport on his bike for his father Everett who owned Brooks Drug Store. Bob gained an interest in wiring and electronics as a teen when he joined a club called Willie Wire Hands which was sponsored by the local power company. Later in life Bob kept up his hobby with the local Davenport CB radio club and Ham radio clubs. He enjoyed talking to fellow Ham radio operators around the world.

Just prior to his 1967 graduation from DHS, Bob joined the US Army. After basic training at Fort Lewis, Bob served 3 tours in Vietnam where he installed and repaired communication lines until his discharge in Dec., 1969.

After the army, Bob was employed by the phone company installing telephone poles and lines. He then attended SCC where he earned his degree in electronics. Days after his college graduation, he married the love of his life Cara Stowell in 1974.

After working for the phone company, Bob worked for Lincoln County Hospital as head of maintenance for a few years and in the early 80’s he joined the US Postal Service until his retirement in the late 90’s.

Bob is survived by his children, Bridgette Steede (Chris) of Dennisport, Mass. and Chawn Brooks of Spokane, granddaughter Kayla Steede, his brother Jim (Cindy) Brooks of Gig Harbor and his sister Janet MacLean of Spokane. He is predeceased by his wife Cara and his parents Everett and Nora Brooks.
