Tiger boys win two over WCK Wildcats

WILBUR – The Odessa boys registered their third victory in a row by defeating Wilbur-Creston-Keller twice last week in the Jan. 19 game at Wilbur by a score of 65-59 and in the Jan. 22 game in Odessa by a score of 52-33. The Jan. 21 game scheduled in Odessa against ACH was cancelled due to positive Covid cases spiking on the ACH team. The Tigers have also had a few positives, but most players return to action after a few days of isolation.

The Tigers were on fire against WCK in the Jan. 18 game. Daeton Deife scored 26 points, Jacob Scrupps scored 21 and Zach Claassen added 15. Scrupps also hit 100 percent from the free-throw line. The Wildcats were paced by Kalub Dreger with 16 points and Kallen Maioho with 15.

Scrupps and Gage Starkel led the rebounding with seven each.

On Jan. 22, the Tiger squad again dominated the Wildcats with an especially successful third-quarter explosion of point scoring. Scrupps led the scoring with 16 points, but Landen Brooks and Zach Claassen also scored in double figures.

On defense, Scrupps and Dakota Steward led in rebounding with eight each.
