Reardan girls wrestlers advance to regionals

LaMoureux, Summers both earn top-five finishes at subregionals

SPANGLE-Both of Reardan's girl wrestlers will be representing their school at the regional tournament this weekend after standout performances at subregionals Saturday, Feb. 5 at Liberty High School. The tournament featured 160 girls from schools around Eastern Washington.

115-pounder Vaea LaMoureux and 120-pounder Shelby Summers both finished in the top-five of their classes and will compete at regionals in Ephrata Saturday, Feb. 12.

LaMoureux defeated Marley Morton of Republic Curlew by fall before falling to Gloria Diaz of Eastmont by major decision 14-4. LaMoureux then defeated Isabel Shaw of Eastmont by fall 0:53 and Sydney Sisk of Colfax by fall 2:49.

She finished her run with a loss to Jada Hernandez of Warden by decision 7-0 and a win over Grace Rocha of Othello by fall 1:31 to finish in fifth place and advance to regionals.

Summers defeated Alyxandra Daniel of Rogers by fall 2:18 before falling to Bianca Johnson of Moses Lake by fall 0:47. Summers then defeated Alyssa Sanchez of Deer Park by fall 1:51 and Anna Bobrovnikova of Rogers by fall 2:26 to finish in third place and advance to regionals.
