Mule Days returns this weekend

Spokane Street parade scheduled for Saturday morning

REARDAN—For the first time in three days, the local Mule Days celebration is a go this upcoming weekend from Friday June 3 to Sunday June 5.

Mule Days, which began in 1904 and has only been interrupted by World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic, was renamed Community Day several decades ago and features many local events.

Chief amongst those events is the Mule Days Parade, which this year is on Spokane Street from Cedar Street to Lake Street. Attendees can expect to see community floats, equestrian showcases, rodeo royalty and marching bands in the parade.

Each category will be judged during the parade and awards will be disbursed in City Park following the parade.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4.

Here are all the planned events for this year’s Mule Days:

Friday, June 3

Teen Dance in the Reardan School Commons at 8 p.m.

Saturday, June 4

Main Parade registration at the corner of Spokane and Cedar Streets from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Car Show at City Park at 9 a.m.

Kiddie Parade lineup at the corner of Spokane and Cedar Streets at 9:30 a.m.

Main Parade begins at the corner of Spokane and Cedar Streets at 10 a.m.

3-on-3 basketball tournament check-in begins at the fire station on Lake Street at 10 a.m.

Vendors begin to showcase at City Park and surrounding streets at 11 a.m.

Parade prizes awarded and royalty announced at City Park at 11 a.m.

3 on 3 basketball tournament begins on Lake and Spokane Streets at 11 a.m.

Kids activities begin at Roberts Park at 11 a.m.

Entertainment begins at City Park at 11:30 a.m.

Book sale begins outside the Library at 11:30 a.m.

BBQ lunch begins at Community Hall at 11:30 a.m.

Royalty luncheon held at United Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m.

Corn Hole tournament begins on Spokane Street between Lake and Laurel Streets at 1 p.m.

Live performance by “Sunset Highway” band outside Speed Trap Tap House at 3 p.m.

All School Class Reuning and Banquet at the high school begins at 6:30 p.m.

Live performance by “Justin James Band” outside Speed Trap Tap House at 8 p.m.

Sunday, June 5

Church service hosted by Emmanuel Lutheran Church at City Park at 9:30 a.m.

Poker Ride at the baseball fields begins at 2 p.m.
