Primary coming up Tuesday

DAVENPORT—The highly anticipated 2022 primary election is a few short days away. Lincoln County ballots must be postmarked by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Over 8,000 ballots were mailed to voters around the county for the primary.

County voters will see a variety of local, state and federal races on their ballots. In each contested race, the top two vote-getters will advance to the general election in November.

Locally, voters will choose which two Sheriff candidates will advance to the general election. The choices include Jeff Barden, Adam Johnson, Gabe Gants, Andy Manke and Brian Telford.

Voters will also eliminate one contestant in the three-person race for Treasurer between Pete Brickner, Brad Sweet and Emily Lybbert Hansen.

Only voters in District No. 3 will see the commissioner’s race between Rob Coffman and Jason Debord on their primary ballot. Both will advance to the general election, when all county voters will have their pick for commissioner on the ballot.

Federal races on the ballot include Patty Murray’s U.S. Senator and Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ 5th District U.S. Representative seats.

State races include Secretary of State and 9th Legislative District Representative.

Running uncontested locally and appearing on the primary ballot are J Scott Liebing for assessor, Chandra Schumacher for auditor, Traci Gants for clerk and Adam Walser for prosecuting attorney.
