Reardan boy arrested after alleged threats

Calls made to Oklahoma traced locally

REARDAN—A 14-year-old high school student here was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 6 for allegedly making threats to a school in Edmond, Oklahoma. The unnamed boy is facing felony and gross misdemeanor charges after cyber crime detectives in Edmond traced the threats to a local IP address, according to records.

Sergeant Tom Williams of the Edmond Police Department told detectives a boy called Edmond North High School saying a girl there had a gun in her backpack, which forced the school into lockdown. The boy called later and sexually harassed the school secretary, according to police records.

Detectives traced the I.P. address to a trailer on Railroad Avenue here belonging to 79-year-old William Bradley, who lives next door to the arrestee. Police Chief Andy Manke determined that the boy was using Bradley’s unsecured Internet to make the calls, according to records.

Manke and Officer Melissa Foust took the boy into custody and executed a search warrant.

After that search warrant allowed law enforcement to seize the boy’s phone, he admitted to using Bradley’s Internet to make prank phone calls in Edmond, records state.

The boy said he made a friend online that used to attend Edmond North High, which led to his prank calls that forced a modified lockdown, police records say.

He was booked into Martin Hall thereafter, according to records, with charges pending.
