Last budget meeting scheduled mid-December

ODESSA— Mayor William Crossley announced a 2022 budget amendment and discussion of the 2023 proposed budget during a brief 12-minute town council meeting on Monday, Nov. 28.

The final budget hearing and amendment meetings are scheduled before the regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 12.

Two hired to work facilities at school district

DAVENPORT–Two locals were hired by the school district here to work facilities and maintenance after longtime facilities director Joe Coppersmith announced his resignation effective Nov. 30.

Brian Telford will be the new facilities director, a promotion from his previous maintenance position. The district also poached J.J. Kowalkowski, the son of former superintendent Jim Kowalkowski, from the city maintenance department to assist Telford’s endeavors.

Both hires were approved by the school board Monday, Nov. 28.

Christmas Care Project deadline next week

DAVENPORT–Those participating in the local Christmas Care Project must have tags returned to their corresponding Sharing Tree location by Saturday, Dec. 10. Tags list a needed item and details. Involved families are providing goods for a holiday meal in addition to Christmas gifts.

Any monetary donations can be dropped off at Wheatland Bank or mailed to P.O. Box 684 here.
