10 Reardan wrestlers qualify for regionals

REARDAN - Ten Screaming Eagles wrestlers qualified to compete in the WIAA 1B/2B Region 3 wrestling tournament here Saturday, Feb. 11.

Preston Neufeld, Conner Kline and Tristin Buril placed first in their weight classes at the district tournament in Pomeroy Feb. 4, earning their spot in the regionals.

They will be joined by Joey Matusik and Troy Routh, who placed second, Troy Zagorski, Carson Kline and Carson Durbin, who placed third and Preston Winn and Sterling McLaughlin who placed fourth.

"I think several of our guys will finish first in regionals," Reardan Coach Justin Neufeld said. "And we have a good chance to take a handful of guys to state."

Vaea LaMoureaux, who placed second at the girls sub-regionals in Spangle Saturday, qualified for the girls regionals at Rogers High School in Spokane, also Feb. 11.

"Vaea has a chance for a state run as long as she gets past a couple of late season injuries," Neufeld said.

Neufeld is proud of his team's effort this season.

"Wrestling is a tough sport," he said. "These young adults put a lot into it this year. You get out of it what you put into it, so I have no doubt they will have success."
