POMEROY - The Davenport boys wrestling team added another accomplishment to an already successful season, taking the District title at the sub-regional meet Saturday, Feb. 4.

Aside from the team accomplishment, 13 of the boys placed high enough to advance to this Saturday's regional meet.

"They're working hard and getting better every week," Davenport head coach Matt Schneider said. "Our seniors really stepped up, and we had a couple surprises."

Davenport swept the finals in two weight classes, with victor River Crandall defeating teammate Brendon Peters-Biggs in the 132-pound final as both advanced to regionals. Meanwhile, Brody Schillinger knocked off Zander Hoff in the 152-pound final, with both advancing.

Matthew Wines won the 160-pound division, while Sam Schneider won the 195-pound division to help both advance.

Noah Everett finished third in the 113-pound division, while Malachi Hoff was second in the 126-pound division. Solomon Holmberg was third in the 145-pound division and Colton Truesdale was fourth in the 160-pound division.

Ryan Cash was third in the 170-pound division. Brock Gustaveson was second in the 182-pound division, and Skylar Conway finished third amongst 220-pounders. All are advancing to regionals.

On the girls side, Stormy Conway finished fourth in the 106-pound division at sub-regionals in Spangle last Saturday to advance to regionals herself. The girls regional meet is at Rogers High School in Spokane Saturday, Feb. 11.

The boys, meanwhile, head to regionals at Reardan High School beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. The top three wrestlers in each class advance to the state Mat Classic in the Tacoma Dome the following weekend.
