Douglas Duane Plinski

Nov. 18, 1951 – Mar. 10, 2023

Passed away Mar. 5, 2023 in Davenport, Wash. where he was a lifetime resident. John was born on Jul. 25, 1937 in Reardan, Wash. to Ellis and Eleanor Sawyer. He grew up in Davenport where he attended school, graduating in 1955 from Davenport High School. He later married Rita Nate on Nov. 7, 1959 in Davenport. John ran a gas station for several years and then later became an insurance agent for Farmers Insurance which he ran with his wife Rita for 35 years. John was involved in the Davenport Historical Society & Museum, Lions Club, Road Knights car club, Vintage Harvest and an avid lover of vintage vehicles, flying airplanes, snowmobiling and spending time with family and friends at the river.

John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rita, at the home, two children Rick (Amy) Sawyer, Tony (Cathy) Sawyer and daughter in law Debbie (Sawyer) Dodd along with 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one son Thomas in 2005, one brother Richard Sawyer and one sister Shirley Wahl.

Funeral services were held on Fri. Mar. 10, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Strate Funeral Home, 505 10th St. Davenport, WA. Interment Mt. View Cemetery, Davenport, WA.
