Sheriff's Office warns of scam calls

Callers pose as office employees

DAVENPORT — Some scammers are calling Lincoln County residents and pretending to be employees of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the office warned in a Facebook post Wednesday, March 8.

“Scammers often use caller ID spoofing to make it appear a phone call is coming from the LCSO using the phone number 509-721-7065 and identify themselves as deputies,” the post read.

Callers reportedly had thick Southern accents and claimed respondents failed to file reports, according to the post.

Residents are urged to avoid giving away financial information over the phone.
