Douglas Duane Plinski, 71, was born in Jamestown, N.D. to Michael and Dolores Plinski on Nov. 18, 1951. After living with Neuroendocrine cancer for many years, he entered into heaven on Mar. 10, 2023. As an active member of the Odessa community, Doug served 25 years as a volunteer fireman and was a member of the Lion's Club, Economic Development council, Odessa Chamber of Commerce, and founder of the Odessa chapter of Duck's Unlimited to name a few. He proudly served as the Mayor of Odessa for 8 years and worked for Avista Utilities/Washington Water Power for 38 years.

Doug loved the outdoors and found his greatest joy while fishing, hunting, camping, kayaking and hiking. He was a skilled photographer and carpenter, and loved sharing his passion for these favorite hobbies.

Family was very important to Doug. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy, his children: Kaylene (Jason) Iltz, Duane (Roxy) Plinski and Doug (Jennifer) Plinski; mother Dolores Plinski; brother Mike Plinski; sisters Ranee Gosney, Joan Kreiger, and Shannon Thompson, his grandkids: Aleyna McVay, JJ and Jaron Iltz, Charly Plinski, Kaylee and Aspen Plinski, and Colton, Taylor, and Kyle Smith.

A celebration of Doug's beautiful life will be held on Mar. 24, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Heritage Church in Odessa, WA. In lieu of flowers, Doug's family requests donations be made to the Odessa Healthcare Foundation, PO Box 368, Odessa, WA. State's Funeral Home is caring for the family.
