Visitors to Old Time Mule & Horse Plowing on Four Corners Road this weekend can see how traditional farming and plowing was done in the "old days." Teamsters from around Eastern Washington will be plowing and available to meet with visitors.

DAVENPORT - For the third time, an Old Time Mule & Horse Plowing event will be hosted at a farm outside the city. The event is Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 at 42501 Four Corners Road.

Roughly a dozen teamsters will harness, hitch, plow and harrow with mules and horses like famers of old did, organizer Jon Overmyer said.

"We're looking at probably...ending up with 40 head of horses and mules, depending on how many each outfit brings," Overmyer said. "Probably 12 teams or multiples thereof."

Overmyer himself will be one teamster, but other groups are coming from Idaho, the Palouse area, Ford and around Eastern Washington.

The free event runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-noon Sunday.

Overmyer encouraged families to pack a picnic lunch, as food won't be provided and the forecast promises sunny weather. Parking signs will direct traffic to the correct location.

Attendees can interact with the teamsters and learn more about the old-fashioned way of plowing, he said.
