Odessa athletes will try for state berths

RITZVILLE - The requirement to advance past the 1B District 7/9 Championships held Wednesday, May 10 were simple: Be a top-eight finisher in laned events, and/or be a top 12 finisher in long distance and field events.

For the Odessa track and field team, several athletes were successful in advancing to the 1B District 7/9 Regional Championships in Colfax Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20.

The bar will only raise higher from there, as the top-three finishers in each event for District 7 boys and top-three finishers for District 9 boys advance to state. The girls' side is more complicated...
