DAVENPORT - A high school freshman was crowned Miss Davenport Wednesday night, May 17.
Rikkiana Chavelas , 16, received her 2023-24 crown in a Pioneer Plaza ceremony.
Chavelas, who was the lone applicant, said she was inspired to put her name in the hat by outgoing Miss Davenport Abby Breithaupt, who wished her well in a speech prior to the coronation Wednesday.
"I saw how she helped the community," Chavelas said. "That really inspired me."
Chavelas is the niece of Lance and Jessica Strite, her legal guardians. She is active in Future Business Leaders of America and softball at the high...
