White case remanded to Juvenile Court

DAVENPORT — The case of 16-year-old Koedi V. White, who facedcharges of first-degree manslaughter and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm stemming from the Feb. 22 death of 15-year-old Shadrach Hall-Turner in Reardan, will be remanded from Lincoln County Superior Court to Juvenile Court, attorneys said at a readiness hearing Tuesday, May 16.

White was originally automatically charged as an adult per state RCW and entered a not-guilty plea at a court appearance in February.

The move to Juvenile Court comes after a plea agreement was reached between the defense and state, defense attorney Grant Riva told presiding judge Jeffrey S. Barkdull Tuesday.

Prosecuting attorney Adam Walser asked Barkdull to strike White’s June 7 trial date, saying a change of plea will occur Tuesday, May 30. Barkdull opted to wait until new juvenile charges had been filed.

White’s Superior Court case will be dismissed after his Juvenile Court case is completed, Walser said Tuesday. The case will likely not go to trial due to the plea agreement, he added.

Charges filed in Superior Court will be transferred to Juvenile Court, though the move technically creates a new court case, Walser said.
