Youth soccer league champions crowned

Inaugural soccer season concludes

HARRINGTON - Two teams from Davenport and a team from Odessa earned championship trophies at the inaugural Lincoln County Youth Soccer League Tournament Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21.

In the 5-7 age group, coach Tyson Lacy led his Davenport team to a 2-0 win over Harrington (2) which was coached by Beth Johnson and Aaron Hansen. Coach Scott Carpenter's Harrington (1) team placed third.

In the age 7-10 group, Davenport (2), coached by Tyler Zaugg and Ashley Gunning, scored a late goal to defeat coach Erin Henry's Davenport (1) team, 3-2. Odessa, coached by Kit Watson, placed third.

Odessa, coached by Mahki Carrol, beat Richard Breedlove's Davenport squad 3-1 to win first place in the 10-12 age group. Harrington, coached by Sam Taylor, took home the third-place trophy.

Besides the championship trophy awarded to the first-place teams, players on the top three teams in each age group were awarded medals.
