McMillan wins All-Around Cowboy

Odessa area man takes home $9,109

CHENEY – An Odessa-Soap Lake area cowboy was named All-Around Cowboy at the Cheney Rodeo.

Caleb McMillan won the title and with it, $2,193 for his performance in bull riding, tie-down roping and steer wrestling.

McMillan was the top bull rider, scoring 80.5 points atop Day Time Crime.

He was the only bull rider with a qualifying time. So, he took home a $6,748 purse.

McMillan was eighth overall in steer wrestling with a time of 6.3 seconds, which earned him an additional $168 and he didn't place in the Top 8 in tie-down roping.

Overall for the July 7-9 rodeo McMillan took home $9,109.

McMillan wasn't the only cowboy with area ties in the July 7-9 rodeo.

On Friday, Dylan Riggins of Airway Heights competed in bareback riding and Hunter Nussbaumer or Reardan was on the bull riding ticket. In addition, Blackfoot, Idaho, cowboy Clay Stone joined the bareback event. Stone has family from Reardan.

Davey McMillan, an Odessa Tigers football standout, competed in saddle bronc on Saturday night.
