Fishing derby, chalk art contested
DAVENPORT - The 51st Annual Pioneer Days was held here July 14-16, with prospective artists and fishermen taking part in the two contests that occurred this year.
The chalk art contest and fishing derby were held Friday morning July 14, while awards were also given to standout entries in the Pioneer Days Parade Saturday, July 15.
The Pioneer Plod and belly flop contest were both cancelled due to a lack of participation. No one signed up for the belly flop, organizer Tim Hosking said.
However, the fishing derby was well-attended, with 111 participants.
