Truck allegedly stolen outside Subway

Chased to Grand Coulee before arrest

DAVENPORT — A Grand Coulee man who allegedly stole a pickup truck outside Subway reportedly led police on a chase through Wilbur into his hometown before being arrested Thursday, Aug. 3.

54-year-old Timothy Wilging was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft and attempting to elude a police vehicle, records state.

According to police records, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputy Kurt Cuzzetto was told that a man stole a yellow Ford F-100 pickup truck registered to Richard Hallam and took off westbound on Morgan Street.

Cuzzetto tracked the vehicle down on U.S. Highway 2 near milepost 229 and attempted to pull it over, but Wilging began to weave into the eastbound lane and pass traffic going 85 miles per hour, often forcing oncoming traffic onto the gravel shoulder near Sherman Draw Road, according to police reports.

Wilging entered Wilbur on Main Street at 85 miles per hour and drove through Main Street in the eastbound lane, forcing several cars and a semitruck into parking lots and curbs before speeding through town limits over 50 miles per hour, records state.

At Doxie’s Diner, Wilging merged back into the westbound lane of Main Street and turned west onto State Highway 174, where Cuzzetto and State Patrol Trooper Jeff Kershaw followed him toward Grand Coulee, according to records.

Wilging then again began to force oncoming traffic off the highway as he approached Bagdad Road and continued down the grade toward Grand Coulee, records state.

He was finally caught on foot when Grand Coulee residents circled him outside a home, where Kershaw took him into custody, according to records.

Wilging had just been released from Lincoln County Jail when he allegedly stole the car. He remained in jail as of press time.
