Fire burns northwest of Wilbur

GRAND COULEE — A vacant home and five other smaller structures burned in a roughly 150-acre fire at 5897 Spring Canyon Road Friday, Aug. 18.

According to reports from the Wilbur Register, Lincoln County Fire District No. 9 commissioner Ron Rosenburg spotted the fire at a vacant home around 11:45 a.m.

Two trailers and three small wooden outbuildings were reportedly lost in the fire.

District No. 9 crews were assisted by Mt. Tolman firefighters, along with crews from Wilbur, Almira and Electric City. The Bureau of Land Management also responded and monitored the site until Tuesday morning Aug. 22, according to reports.

Some range land was lost in the blaze that burned between 150 and 200 acres, but most of the flames were out by Friday night Aug. 18.

Most of the fire was close to Lake Roosevelt in rocky outcroppings, help limit wheat field loss, according to reports.
