Vintage Harvest is this weekend

DAVENPORT - Old-timey harvesters, combines and tractors will once again be on display in this year's Vintage Harvest at the Guhlke farm 1.5 miles east of the city Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday Sept. 10.

Visitors should arrive at 40801 U.S. Highway 2 East by 9:30 a.m. both days to view cutting as it was done "in the old days."

Organizer Todd Guhlke said internationals, 1936 John Deeres and 1932 Cases are among but not the only vintage farming equipment that will be displayed and "performing" this weekend.

"We'll probably start cutting about 9:30, and the same on Sunday," Guhlke said.

Viewing how wheat harvest was done decades ago isn't the only opportunity at Vintage Harvest. Visitors can enjoy a $10 noon lunch provided by Davenport FFA, while Spokane-based Sonnenberg's Market and Deli will cater a $30 harvest dinner Saturday.

Tickets are required for dinner. Interested parties should call Guhlke at 509-721-0803 as soon as possible, he said.

Before dinner, Hawk Creek-based musician Jesse Quandt will be performing.

And a car show will line the fields outside the Big Red Barn Saturday only.

All proceeds of the event benefit the Davenport-based Lincoln County Historical Society.
