Kaur to run operations at motel
DAVENPORT - The Davenport Motel at 1205 Morgan Street is under new ownership. Gurleen Kaur, Abhey Virk and Ravinder Virk purchased the motel from Elaine Suder Friday, Sept. 1.
Property listings show the building was sold for $675,000.
Kaur, 23, said she moved here from Spokane Valley to own and run daily operations at the motel. She will also maintain her job as a dental assistant in Spokane.
"We've been looking to get into the motel business," Kaur said.
Kaur said the sale process took about one month.
She currently doesn't plan to change the 9-room layout of the motel, and for now, said she is the only employee at the motel.
This is Kaur and Virks' first venture into owning a motel. Ravinder Virk, one of the owners of the building, is Kaur's uncle.
The motel is located at the corner of 12th and Morgan Streets across from Safeway and kitty corner to Basin Pacific Insurance and The Record-Times.
