Museum showcases outlaw Harry Tracy

Paulson and Troupe facilitate

DAVENPORT — Eileen Paulson and Troupe put on a wonderful, educational and fun presentation on Saturday, Sept. 17 for The Lincoln County Museum.

The presentation was about the now-famous, Harry Tracy-Bad Guy, who has a direct connection to Lincoln County.

Paulson was able to get information from a variety of sources about the life and times of Tracy and presented it in such as a way as to make it engaging and entertaining.

Tracy was an outlaw who escaped from the law many times in his young life. Connor Boyer played and dressed the part of him as the story unfolds.

“Members” of Tracy’s family and friends told about him from their perspectives, to help the audience get a sense of the depth of him.

As a young lad Tracy was well-liked and remembered by all as a kind and compassionate person, but as he grew into his teenage years he began a career of stealing, threatening and killing a desperado. However, he never was harmful to children or women. The law would catch him, but he would escape and be on the run again.

Finally a posse cornered him near a large rock in the wide-open scablands near Creston where he eventually killed himself. An actual recording of the capture was described by Lucius B. Eddy, whose ranch was the final stop for Tracy.

Grace Moeller, Knute Hernas, Glenn Paulson, Eileen Paulson, Keri Bayley and Matt Bayley made up the cast of characters. Two narrators, John Stiles and Matt Bayley, kept the audience engaged with the storyline.

And Chet Paulson put the whole thing together with his music, sound effects, photographs and visual display that was a key element to the entire presentation.
