DAVENPORT - After dropping its first match of the District 7 Tournament to Chewelah Tuesday, the Gorillas kept their season alive with a three-set sweep of Upper Columbia Academy Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Davenport's 25-12, 25-19, 25-18 win Wednesday advanced the Gorillas to the final day of District action and ended the Lions' season.

The Gorillas started strong in the first set and kept the pressure on in the second set, jumping out to a 14-8 lead. That lead grew to 19-10 before UCA went on a mini run, but Davenport was able to shut the door for a 25-19 victory.

The Lions had the advantage to begin the final set, building a 12-8 lead. Davenport erased its deficit quickly, tying the set 13-13 before surging to a 19-13 advantage before finishing the job for a 25-18 set victory to seal the match.

The sixth-seeded Gorillas now join five other District 7 teams in Day 3 Tournament play at Northwest Christian Thursday, Oct. 26. Davenport's first match is against NWC at 2 p.m.

The top five finishers at Districts advance to a crossover match with a to-be-determined District 6 opponent for the right to go to state.
