2023 grant funding at Odessa Airport

Airport was one of 37 WA airports granted

ODESSA — The local Municipal Airport was one of 37 Washington airports to receive federal funding in the 2023 calendar year. In a project that has already been completed, $300,000 was received to pave a portion of the existing gravel apron.

Town Clerk Meri Jane Bohn said the pavement provided small aircraft tiedown space and decreased foreign object debris damage to aircraft.

“Our town contracted engineer who worked on this project was Melanie Johansen with Century West Engineering,” Bohn said in an email.

$190,387,738 went from the feds to Washington airports in 2023, according to a release from the State Senate Office.

Odessa was one of 10 Eastern Washington airports to receive a chunk of funding.

The largest paycheck, which totaled over $53 million, went to the Spokane International Airport. The “lowest” check was to the Omak Airport, which received $180,000.

Other Eastern Washington airports receiving federal funding included the Pullman/Moscow Regional Airport, Walla Walla Regional Airport, Anderson Field in Brewster, Felts Field in Spokane, Methow Valley State Airport in Winthrop, Colville Municipal Airport, Port of Whitman Business Air Center in Colfax and Grand Coulee Dam Airport.
