Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

Frigid temperatures forecasted here

DAVENPORT -The warmer-than-normal weather that Lincoln County (and much of the country) has been treated to so far this winter will soon be a distant memory. Beginning Thursday night, Jan. 11, temperatures are forecasted to plummet around the region.

The National Weather Service predicts temperatures will be as low as -1 degrees Fahrenheit, with wind chill values as low as -20 in Davenport. The same model predicts a low of 6 degrees with wind chills as low as -10 in Odessa, which tends to trend a bit warmer than the northern part of the county.

The chill won't settle through the weekend, the Weather Service predicts. Friday, Jan. 12 is projected to have a high of 9 degrees Fahrenheit, with a low of -5 degrees in Davenport and a high of 15 degrees and low of 1 degree in Odessa.

Saturday, Jan. 13 carries a forecast of a high of 7 degrees and low of -3 degrees in Davenport and a high of 11 degrees and low of 0 degrees in Odessa.

Temperatures in the teens and single digits are forecasted to last through at least Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Snow could factor in as well, but the odds aren't as high. The Weather Service forecasts between a 20-30% chance of snow Friday and Saturday in Davenport and a 20-40% chance in Odessa.
