Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

Rural Resources offers local services

More local employees expected

DAVENPORT — Colville-based Rural Resources, which provides many services to those in need or down on their luck in Lincoln County, has moved into a physical office space where the old Drug and Alcohol Center was at 511 First Street.

There, two full-time employees are stationed with various areas of expertise, with more employees expected to fill that office in coming months.

Running the office, for now, is housing case manager Amanda Gavin. Gavin also helps run the Willow Ridge homeless shelter that Rural Resources has operated since 2022.

Victim advocacy services are also in the Davenport office under advocate Shania Lawrence. In the next couple months, Gavin said, Pete Valdin will join the office full-time as an employment coordinator.

That program, which is currently serviced through Colville, helps people find jobs, gain training and licenses and facilitate effective returns to employment.

Jill Morris will eventually be in the office on a part-time basis as a Home Ownership Program manager, Gavin said. She’ll help people with low incomes budget and mortgage for buying homes while offering home ownership counseling.

Cruze Thompson of Rural Resources told the Lincoln County Commissioners that the growing presence in Davenport will help service local citizens that mahy otherwise have to go to Colville to receive those services.

Commissioner Rob Coffman particularly touted the praises of the employment-related services, one of which is helping citizens acquire their commercial driver’s licenses.

“That’s great news for us to fill Public Works positions, because we require CDL’s,” Coffman said.

The Davenport Rural Resources office is currently open Monday-Friday.
