Golf & RV named Business of the Year

Clavel family Volunteers of the Year

ODESSA - The local Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet at Old Town Hall Friday, March 8. There, prizes were raffled, dinner was served and entertainment was provided.

During the recognition portion of the evening, Odessa Golf & RV was named Business of the Year. The business, owned by Dillon and Hannah Jahns, includes a 9-hole golf course and dining options.

The clubhouse and restaurant is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Tom Clavel and his family were then named Volunteers of the Year for their tireless work behind the scenes with various community service projects. Clavel was recognized with his family, Gwen Clavel, Brian Clavel and Nick Stewart.

After a hearty dinner of grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, Caesar salad, cornbread and cupcakes, opener Jody Carroll of Priest River and headliner Phillip Kopczynski of Spokane performed a comedy show for attendees.

Attendance was much lower this year than normal, those there seemed to agree. Future Chamber meetings are expected to include discussion about whether to move the annual Banquet to a different time of year to encourage more attendance from local businesses and the community.
