Museum recognizes its volunteers

DAVENPORT - The Lincoln County Historical Society, which operates the museum here, held its third annual volunteer luncheon to recognize those who contributed over 50 hours of service to the museum in 2023.

After a hearty lunch of steak, baked potatoes, pasta and salad donated and cooked by Todd Guhlke, Historical Society president John Stiles recognized the aforementioned volunteers.

Those recognized included Rollie Behrens, Gabe Gants, Lily Green, Rita Guhlke, Tony Hein, Phyllis Luiten, Donna Mathis, Lynn Maurer, Grace Moeller, Eileen Paulson, Deb Schultz, John Stiles, LaVon Stiles, Steve Whiteside and Irene Wilkie.

Also recognized were volunteers of Vintage Harvest, an annual event held in late summer east of Davenport that showcases old-time wheat combines and harvesters. Todd and Lynne Guhlke, Tom Scharff, Gene Stuckle and Gene Hein were given special shout-outs.

John Stiles noted that the Museum had 143 volunteers in 2023, which equates to $140,736 worth of free labor.

After lunch, archaeologist John Rivera led a field trip to local sites in the area.
