School Boards pass multiple resolutions

DAVENPORT — The School Board approved a motion for an interfund loan to pay for a new school bus at a regular meeting Monday, April 29.

The loan, which temporarily moves $56,000 from the capital projects fund to the transportation vehicle fund, is necessary for the District to be able to use a new bus that arrived earlier than expected, superintendent Chad Prewitt said.

The District isn’t required to pay back interest on the interfund loan, which Prewitt said will be paid in full when the state disburses bus depreciation funding in August.

The Board also approved a motion to cancel the May 13 budget meeting and tabled a motion for a WIAA membership renewal to a future meeting.

Board members also accepted the resignations of bus driver Sheree Sweetland and high school asst. baseball and middle school asst. coach Sam Roepke.

Meanwhile, the Odessa School Board passed a consent agenda that included the resignations of kindergarten teacher Sidney Sheer, effective Aug. 31, and high school asst. volleyball coach Zoe Weber.

And the Board approved the following action items:

• Schedule the next regular board meeting for 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 22.

• Hire Dawn Hanson as high school head volleyball coach.

• The second reading of an opioid-related overdose reversal policy.

• A salary adjustment rider for Kelsey Scrupps.

• Certificated contracts and classified employment assurances for next school year.

• A band trip to Silverwood.

Operations Supervisor Justin Parr told the Board he hopes the District receives a district modernization grant, which would help fund electrical, plumbing and kitchen appliance repairs, as well as HVAC improvements and gym roof replacement.
