Davenport softball bounced at Districts

Gorillas drop two at Merkel Complex

SPOKANE - The Davenport softball team was quickly eliminated with two losses at the District 7 2B Tournament played at Merkel Sports Complex Tuesday, May 14.

The seventh-seeded Gorillas dropped a quarterfinal game to second-seeded Northwest Christian 16-1 to open the Tournament.

That loss forced Davenport into a loser-out matchup with Kettle Falls later Tuesday, which the Bulldogs pulled off 7-2 to end the Gorillas' season.

Davenport finished the season 6-16 overall.

"The coaching staff is so incredibly proud of all of the girls. We started out rough around the edges and developed into a team who has so much potential. We are a team that has been plagued with injuries, and yet we still put a team together and persevered through those challenges," Davenport head coach Lindsey Kruger said. "We have a huge hole to fill, with our senior center fielder (Koda Coffman) graduating, however we are fortunate to have a young team. As coaches, we felt very blessed to have such hardworking girls who double as great people. We are excited to see what the next year will bring."
