Soliday dominates events
CHENEY — Lincoln County’s varsity girls athletes turned in strong performances at the 2025 Van Kuren Invite on Saturday, April 19, at Cheney High School.
Competitors from Davenport, Reardan, and Odessa earned several Top 10 finishes against a deep field of talent from across the region.
Davenport’s Glenna Soliday emerged as a standout, placing in three events.
She sprinted to 10th in the girls varsity 200 meters with a time of 26.44 seconds and finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.83 seconds.
Soliday also contributed to Davenport’s 4x200-meter relay team, which placed 12th in 1:52.40, alongside teammates Faith Suttenfield, Paige Van Buren and Charlotte Soliday.
Josie Wynecoop added to Davenport’s success with a 10th-place finish in the girls 1600 meters, clocking 5:33.51.
Reardan senior Avery Casselberry claimed 10th place in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, 7.5 inches, holding her own in a field of over 40 competitors.
The lone Reardan athlete to place, Casselberry’s showing continued the tradition of Reardan throwers finding success in postseason meets.
Odessa had a notable presence in the high jump, with two athletes finishing in the Top 6.
Lily Starkel tied for fourth with a mark of 4 feet, 10 inches, while sophomore Oceanna Reeves cleared 4-8 to secure sixth place.
In the hurdles, senior Reegan Carstensen finished 12th in the 100-meter event with a time of 17.28 seconds, rounding out a solid showing for the Tigers.
On Saturday, April 26, all three teams travel to Ritzville for the annual Undeberg Invitational hosted by Lind-Ritzville High School.
The first event starts at 10:30 a.m.
