Yields exceed early expectations

DAVENPORT - Harvest is underway across Lincoln County, where yellow peas, soft white wheat, club wheat and canola are the primary crops coming off the fields this year.
"Those are probably the heavier hitters," said Brad Wiley of Mondovi, east region foreman for HighLine Grain Growers. "There are others, but those are the primary."
So far, yields in the southern end of the county are above average, while the north is seeing mostly average returns on winter wheat. Quality across the board is reported as good.
