Strite leads council race

DAVENPORT — Voters got their first look at primary results Tuesday night as ballots were tallied in the city’s three-way council race.

Michael Strite leads in the race for Davenport City Council Position No. 1 with 54.88% of the vote, according to preliminary results from the Aug. 5 primary election.

Libbie Klettke follows with 35.35%, while incumbent Daniel Coriell trails with 8.84%.

Daniel Coriell, 24, of Davenport, said while the results are disappointing, he plans to finish out his term and stay involved in the community.
