Officials warn of evacuation phone scams

SPOKANE – The Spokane County sheriff’s office is warning residents about potential scam calls falsely claiming to be from law enforcement in connection to the Crescent Road Fire evacuation area near Long Lake.

Deputies say they have received reports from citizens who were contacted by callers posing as officers and telling them they must evacuate. The calls are being made to residents both inside and outside the official evacuation zone.
