Team nominated for sportsmanship award

DAVENPORT - Davenport High School's football team was nominated for the Inland Empire Football Officials Association's Weekly Sportsmanship Award for Thursday, Oct. 10.

The Gorillas hosted Nespelem High School in the visitors' first varsity game and were praised for their sportsmanship.

Davenport players congratulated Nespelem after its first-ever touchdown and paused play respectfully after a late-game injury.

The nomination makes Davenport eligible for the annual Tom Reser Sportsmanship Trophy. The association also presented the school with a certificate for display....
