Sweet edges Chapman in Davenport

DAVENPORT - Early results from the Tuesday, Nov. 4, General Election show Brad Sweet leading the race for Davenport mayor, narrowly edging out incumbent Jonathan Chapman.

According to preliminary tallies, Sweet received 171 votes (52.94%), while Chapman earned 150 votes (46.44%). Two write-in votes were recorded, bringing the total to 323 ballots cast.

"I am pretty positive after seeing the election results start to trickle in," Sweet said Tuesday night. "Doesn't look like we had a great voter turnout this year, but I am looking forward to serving the citizens."
